London Tutor Club Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between Grid Education Ltd (trading as London Tutor Club), hereinafter referred to as "the Company," "we," "us," or "our," and the client (parent, guardian, or adult student), hereinafter referred to as "the Client," "you," or "your."

 

By registering with us, booking a session, or utilizing our tutoring services, you agree to be fully bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1. Definitions

  • "Tutor" means any sessional tutor or academic professional engaged or introduced by the Company to provide educational services.

  • "Session" means any period of tutoring or academic instruction, whether delivered online via digital platforms or in person at a physical premises.

  • "Services" means the matching, administration, and provision of academic tutoring services managed by the Company.

2. Bookings, Fees, and Payment

  • Booking Confirmation: A session is only considered officially confirmed and secured once full payment has been received by the Company. Issuing an invoice or scheduling a time does not guarantee a slot.

  • Payment Timing: All session fees must be paid in full prior to the commencement of the scheduled session.

  • Default Payment Methods: Payments must be made via the Company’s approved online payment methods or direct bank transfer to Grid Education Ltd.

  • Cash Payments: Cash payments are strictly prohibited unless explicitly authorized in advance by the Company management at our sole discretion. Tutors are not permitted to accept unauthorized cash payments directly from Clients.

  • Late Payment: The Company reserves the right to immediately suspend, cancel, or release any upcoming scheduled sessions to other clients if payment has not been received by the specified due date.

3. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Lateness

  • Cancellation Notice: If you need to cancel or reschedule a confirmed session, you must provide the Company with at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled start time.

  • Late Cancellations: If notice is given less than 24 hours before the session, or if a student fails to attend (no-show), the full fee for that session will be charged, and no refund or makeup session will be issued.

  • Tutor Lateness: If a Tutor is late for a session, they will provide the full remaining time of the session or make up the lost time at a mutually convenient date.

  • Client Lateness: If a student is late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time, and the lost time will not be extended or refunded. If a student is more than 15 minutes late without communication, the session will be treated as a no-show.

4. Refunds and Performance

  • Refund Policy: All fees paid for confirmed sessions, blocks, or packages are non-refundable unless the Company fails to deliver the scheduled service or cancels the session without offering a reasonable alternative date.

  • Technical Requirements (Online Sessions): For online sessions, the Client is entirely responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection, a working webcam and microphone, and a quiet learning environment. The Company will not refund or reschedule sessions cut short by technical faults on the Client’s side.

  • Parental Responsibility (Under 18s): For sessional instruction delivered to students under the age of 18 at a private residence (such as the student's home), a parent, guardian, or designated responsible adult must remain physically present on the premises for the entire duration of the session.

  • Public & Institutional Locations: If a session takes place in a public space (e.g., a library) or a premises hired by the Company (e.g., a school classroom or community hall), the physical presence of a parent/guardian is not mandatory, provided the location is deemed appropriate by the Company. Where sessions occur in closed rooms or classrooms, physical transparency must be maintained. This requires that either: (i) classroom doors remain propped open, (ii) the door features a clear vision panel/window, or (iii) a pre-approved third-party adult (such as a school site manager, company representative, or another tutor) is present on-site with regular access to the room. Tutors are at no time responsible for childcare, transit, or supervising the student outside of direct academic instruction.

5. Non-Solicitation and Private Arrangements

  • Direct Engagement Prohibited: The Client strictly agrees not to employ, engage, or enter into any private tutoring or educational arrangements directly with any Tutor introduced or assigned to them by the Company, outside of official Company booking channels.

  • Duration of Restriction: This restriction applies throughout the period the Client receives services from the Company and for a period of 12 months following the termination or completion of their last session with the Company.

  • Financial Remedy: If the Client breaches this clause and engages a Tutor privately, the Client agrees to pay the Company a placement/finder’s fee equivalent to the total estimated revenue of 50 tutoring sessions, or the actual loss of business earnings incurred by Grid Education Ltd (trading as London Tutor Club), whichever is greater.

6. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimers

  • Academic Outcomes: While the Company and its Tutors strive to provide the highest standard of educational support, the Company makes no guarantees regarding specific academic outcomes, exam results, school admissions, or grade improvements.

  • Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales, Grid Education Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the provision of our Services.

  • Governing Law: These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
